Why Train your dog ?

If, like me, you like the idea of venturing out into the countryside with your dogs, then what better way, than with a well trained, obedient and steady dog. You will gain a respect and partnership that can’t be beaten, and enjoy many happy memories together.  Gundog training is a wonderful way to enjoy time with your dog and offers you an exciting hobby as well as providing both physical and mental exercise for your dog.

I believe that you can share your home with a well behaved dog, whether its just a family pet or working pet.

Dog Training Available and how it works

At Seadogs Training we are committed to delivering professional training sessions to train both the handler and the dog, from the time you bring home your new puppy to the time you take your dog out on your first shoot day and beyond. I also cater for those of you who would like a better partnership but have no intention of working your dog. Having the basics will make both you and you dog happier.  Seadogs – “Training you and your dog”

My training courses will give you the confidence to work your dog in the shooting field, and have an obedient pet in and around the home.

If you wish, we can move onto more advanced training including water retrieving, dropping to flush, shot and directional work.

I also run training days to give you and your dog the opportunity to further training in new environments. They are also an introduction to how a shoot day is run.

You do not have to commit to weekly sessions, depending on yours, and your dogs, needs you may only need one session to master an area you are struggling with. Then you can return if you wish at a later date to take another step in your partnership together.

Stour Valley Gundog Training Centre is within The Melford Hall Estate in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The Chad Brook runs at the bottom of one of the woods we use for training.  Not only is this the perfect environment for training, its very picturesque. We have woodland and cover ideal for spaniels and areas to suit Labradors and long retrieves.  We can cater for all your training needs; novice through to advanced training.   We have many different areas for all types of training including a well stocked rabbit pen to use to train steadiness.  We also have permission to use starting pistols & dummy launchers for more advanced training.  We can also progress to introduction of the gun, once you and your dog are ready, having permission to shoot on this part of the estate.  We have an all weather car parking area big enough for 12 or more cars.  Our site also has an old barn ideal for training inside to establish the basics, or to get out of the weather.

You can gain respect from your dog through clear, consistent commands. Remember if something is not happening it is because you are not being clear in your part of the conversation with your dog.  I am happy to demonstrate working my dogs; please just let me know you’d like to see a demonstration at the time of booking and I can make sure I have my dogs with me.
